telenotes
Telegram in. Notes you actually own out.
A Rust bot, web dashboard, and terminal client that turn any message into a searchable note — markdown in your own git repo, not a vendor database.
What it does
Capture text, PDFs, photos, voice notes, and video straight from Telegram
Teloxide bot in Rust as the single credential-holding process
Ratatui TUI client and a static web dashboard over the same data
Notes stored as markdown in your own git repository, not a vendor database
Runs end to end on free-tier infrastructure
The long version
Quick-capture tools tend to either lock notes inside a vendor database or ask you to self-host something heavy. telenotes takes a third route: Telegram is the capture surface, because it is already on your phone and already handles every media type you would want to throw at it.
A thin Rust bot is the only component that ever touches your credentials. Storage is split across systems that are each good at one job — markdown notes in a git repo you own, binaries in object storage, metadata in Postgres so search stays fast. Nothing proprietary holds the data, so leaving costs nothing.
Three clients read the same store: the Telegram bot for capture, a static web dashboard for browsing and editing, and a Ratatui terminal client. The whole system is designed to run end to end on free-tier infrastructure.
